The procession of more than 50 palanquins carrying the portraits of Kanaka Dasa which had already arrived from villages across the district also got off to a late start.

As usual, the procession started from Maralusiddeshwara Temple on MG Road but san any grandeur. The villagers themselves didn’t allow any kind of vibrancy.

Interestingly, after the procession, which passed through all the prominent roads in the city, the villagers immediately returned to their villages with their palanquins. The scheduled programme at Nandi Rangamandira was also cancelled.

“Initially, the members were not interested in conducting the procession in the wake of mourning. However, seeing the overwhelming response of villagers, we decided to hold a simple procession,” the leaders of Kuruba Sangha said.
