Infy Q2 net profit up 7.54 pc at Rs 1,540 cr

Attrition at the company declines to 10.9 per cent

For the reporting quarter, the company said its total income stood at Rs 5,585 crore, registering 3.1 per cent year-on-year (yoy) growth, and added that it has declared an interim dividend of Rs 10 per share for the first six months (April-September) of this fiscal yeat 2009-10.

Infosys Chief Executive Officer Kris Gopalakrishnan said the firm added 35 new clients, taking the total number of active clients to 571, even as the number of ‘million dollar clients’ decreased from 789 to 776.
“The company is sharpening its focus on research and development, intellectual property-based solutions and new engagement models (NEMs) that offer pricing and greater operational control and efficiency,” Infosys Chief Financial Officer V Balakrishnan said.

Meanwhile, Infosys HRD Head T V Mohandas Pai said that attrition during the reporting quarter declined to 10.9 per cent from 11.1 percent in the previous quarter and that Infosys and subsidiaries added 6,069 people, increasing the total headcount to 105,453 employees.

It however, projected an average revenue guidance in the range of  RS 5,429 to Rs 5,476 for the third quarter, which will be a marginal decline of 6.2 per cent to 5.4 per cent YoY, while the consolidated income for the year 2010 is expected to be in the range of Rs 21,961 crore and Rs 22,055 crore which will be a marginal increase of 1.5 per cent YoY.
