In a shocking incident, two girls were nabbed drinking beer openly at their school in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur town.

The girls, both students of 11th standard, were found to be drinking in their class room on Monday by the school staff after being informed by fellow students, according to reports.

“Two beer bottles and some packets of finger chips were seized from under the bench where the two students were sitting”, said the teachers adding that the incident occurred during the lunch recess.

The girls told the teachers that they had brought the beer bottles in their school bags.
The girls were immediately taken to the principal’s room and reprimanded. “Their parents were summoned and informed about their doing”, the staff said.

The two were also rusticated from the school. Their rustication was cancelled after the girls tendered written apologies and pledged not to do anything like that in future.

However, they have been suspended for the whole of the academic year as punishment.
Barely a few days back education officials in UP’s Ballia district had nabbed some people, including a teacher, drinking liquor at the primary school.

The teacher identified as Vinay Kumar Upadhyay, who had been posted at the primary school at Hit ka Pura village in the district had virtually turned the school into a bar and was found entertaining his guests at a liquor party.

And all this was happening while the children were studying on the ground just outside the classes. Sub-divisional Magistrate Brajpal Singh, who had arrived to make an inspection, with his subordinates, caught Upadhyay, a “shikshamitra” (temporary teacher in the primary schools), red-handed.

Upadhyay told the official that he had brought the guests to the school as he could not have offered them liquor at his house.
