Thousands witness ceremony

A sea of humanity descended for mass marriage at famous Sri Lakshmivenkateshwara Temple in the town on Sunday. Many cultural troupes, which had come from the various parts of the district and State enthraled the people with their performance.

The marriage was organised by S N Subba Reddy Charitable Trust, headed by industrialist S N Subba Reddy. As many as 630 couple entered the wedlock.

Elaborate arrangements had been made for marriage, i e, installation of a huge main stage, accompanying stages on the either sides of the main stage to house newly married couple.

Seating arrangements for the relatives of the couples and for other people. Breakfast and launch were also organised for the people. Incidentally, separate food facility at Arya Vysya Kalyana Mantap had been organised for the newly wed couples.

Trust had erected huge pandals to house jersey cows to be given away to newly married couples. Apart from this arrangements had also been made to give marriage photos on the spot. Loud speakers had been installed from the town main road till the temple.

Police had a tough time regulating the vehicular movement due to the huge crowd and procession by various cultural troupes. Kamsaale, Poojakunita, Dollukunita, Chakkala bhajane and others were performed by the troupes.

More than 60,000 attended the marriage as bagina was being offered to every house for the past two months. “There is a need to support organisations working for the society,” Reddy said.
