Sarva Dharma Sammelan begins

 Lokayukta (retd) Justice Santosh Hegde has said that failing to understand the importance of ‘Dharma and Puranas’ has led to rift between the religions in the society.

Speaking after inaugurating Sarva Dharma Sammelan as a part of Laksha deepotsava in Dharmasthala on Tuesday, he said “one should understand the meaning of dharma for peace in the society.”

Ramanujam Mission Trust Founder President Dr Prasanna Venkatacharyar Chathurvedi Swamiji said all the religions preach universal brotherhood, peace and values of life.

“The values found in all religions should be inculcated by the people. The confluence of all religion will lead to the welfare of humanity,” he added.

In his welcome speech, Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade said “dharma leads a person to happy life. Religion is reaching out to the individual through religious discourses, and discussion.” 

Shanthivana Trust has been creating awareness among the students on moral values through its publications, he added.

Bishop P K Jacob also spoke. Kusumavathi College of Arts and Commerce Kannada lecturer Prof B K Nyame Gowda spoke on ‘Harmony in Jainism.’

Journalist Abdul Salam Puthige was present.

D Lakshmidevi Murthy who has been taking part in Sarva Dharma Sammelan for the last 62 years was felicitated on the occasion.
