Conference to explore 'Works of Srinivas Ramanujan'

A three-day international conference on ‘The works of Srinivas Ramanujan and related topics’ has been organised at the department of studies in Mathematics, Manasagangotri from December 12 at 9.30 am.

The conference has been organised as part of the celebrations of national mathematical year. It is sponsored by national board for higher mathematics (NBHM), department of science and technology (DST) and council of scientific and industrial research (CSIR).

The meet is aimed at bringing together eminent mathematicians who are researching the works of Srinivasa Ramanujan and allied matters to enable young researchers.

Eminent mathematicians from across the world like- Prof Srinivas Kotyada, IMSc, Chennai and Prof A K Agarwal, Punjab University, Chandigarh in India and Prof Richard Askey from the University of Wisconsin, USA, Prof Ken Ono and Robert P Schneider, Emory University, USA, Prof Mike Hirschchorn, University of South  Wales, Australia, Prof Wadim Zudilin, University of New Castle, Australia, Prof Shaun Cooper, Massey University, New Zealand, Prof Michael Schlosser, University of Vienna, Austria and Prof Zhi-Guo Liu, East China Normal University, P R China are attending the conference.

Inauguration

Former HoD, mathematics, Prof S Bhargava will inaugurate, while Prof Richard Askey will deliver the key-note address.

Former V-C, University of Mysore, Prof V G Talawar will release the souvenir, said a press release.

Job opportunities

Vivekananda Girijana Kalyan Kendra’s Graduate Finishing School, a social initiative for disadvantaged graduate youths is providing computer readiness training programme in English speaking,  computer training, mental strength, skill development and other subjects.

Degree holders of BA, BCom, BSc and BCA are eligible to apply.
