TN take lead over Karnataka

Tamil Nadu took a narrow led over hosts Karnataka in the Mixed Team of Five event in the Canara Bank fifth National Tenpin Bowling Championship here at the Blu-O, Orion Mall, on Saturday.

The Tamil Nadu team, comprising Shabbir Dhankot, K C Senthil, Sabeena S, Rajmohan P and G Dinesh, scored a total pinfall of 2912 while Karnataka (Prathima Hegde, Huned Khokar, Parvez Ahmed, Aakash Ashok Kumar and Girish Gaba) were breathing down their neck, a further 27 pins behind.

Sanjeev, Ranjit Roy, Sugandha Sarda, Vikas Khurana and Harshvardhan Sarda of Team Delhi were third at 2746. The Mixed Team of Five concludes on Sunday.

In the men’s All Events, Dhruv Sarda of Delhi maintained his lead with 4367 pinfalls over 21 games, followed by Karnataka’s Akaash Ashok Kumar (4202) and Delhi’s Shabbir Dhankot (4180).

In the women’s All Events, Sabeena Saleem of Tamil Nadu leads the standings with 3870 pinfalls over 21 games. Prathima is second with 3848 pinfalls while another Karnataka player Aishwarya Rao is third with  3742 pinfalls.

The medal winners will be decided after the final three games that will be played on Sunday.
