KMF cotton buy to be probed

Last Updated 15 December 2012, 19:03 IST

The Lokayukta court on Saturday ordered an inquiry into the controversial purchase of cotton seed for the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) at an exorbitant rate.

The court entrusted the matter involving KMF Chairman Somashekar Reddy to the Lokayukta and asked it to submit a report by January 28, 2013.

The complainant, Chandrahasa, alleged that the KMF had purchased oil seeds when the price reached Rs 28,000 per tonne. “This caused a loss of Rs 66 crore to the State exchequer,” Chandrahasa said.
