Followers celebrate as HDK turns 54

Former chief minister and JD(S) state unit president H D Kumaraswamy celebrated his 54th birthday with thousands of supporters on Sunday.

Followers thronged his JP Nagar residence from early morning, with cakes and garlands.

After performing the pooja, Kumaraswamy, along with his wife Anita Kumaraswamy, cut the cake and received wishes from his supporters, who had come from across the State.

Later, he performed a special pooja at the Rajarajeshwari Temple and Banashankari Temple and visited his mother Channamma. He took part in the various programmes his supporters had organised, as part of the birthday celebrations.

At Kaggalipura, where the JD(S) leaders had organised mass feeding, Kumaraswamy met his father H D Deve Gowda. After the luncheon programme, he took part in the celebrations at Harohalli, Bidadi, Channapatna and Ramanagaram, all strongholds of JD(S).

For the people

Speaking to mediapersons, the former chief minister said he had taken an oath to dedicate his life at the service of the people of the State.

“I have always tried to respond to the grievances of the people and solve them. I will continue to do so. My special attention is for the poor and the downtrodden,” he said.

Referring to the forthcoming Assembly elections, he said people had to make their choice with care.

“They have to decide who is better. Let them contemplate about the responsiveness and contributions of the parties to the development of the State,” he said, exuding confidence that people would prefer the JD(S) for its pro-people initiatives.
