Organ donation cards at RTO

The office of the regional transport officer at Jayanagar will issue green cards to drivers who wish to donate their organs.

The Transport department has issued as many as 347 such cards through its RTOs in Electronics City and Koramangala.

Commissioner of Traffic department, K R Srinivas, said organ donation has not gained popularity due to lack of awareness.

He said annually 1.5 lakh people are killed in accident and several lives could be saved if one of them donate his/her organs.

Several truck and auto drivers have come forward to donate their organs, Srinivas said.
