9-year-old girl found hanging at her home

A nine-year-old girl, Harini, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her Vinayakanagar residence in HAL here Monday evening.

Although the police said it was a case of suicide, the girl’s relatives suspect foul play.

Harini’s mother Saraswathi had gone to a nearby grocery shop while her brother Subhash had gone for tuition classes. The mother returned home to find the girl hanging by a dupatta.

Police said Harini was studying in fifth standard at Vimanapura East Primary School, and had to appear for an examination on Tuesday.

Her brother, Subhash (12) also studies in the same school. Their father, Sridhar, a cab driver, had gone to Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh.

Although examination stress could be a reason if the suicide theory is established, the relatives were not convinced.  

Harini’s relatives drew attention to the manner in which the girl’s body was found loosely hanging by a dupatta.
