Geetika suicide: Co-accused's dad cites police harassment

Last Updated 17 December 2012, 20:34 IST

A Delhi court on Monday asked a senior police officer to probe into allegations of harassment levelled by the father of Chanshivroop Singh, co-accused of former Haryana minister Gopla Kanda in the Geetika Sharma suicide case.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate D K Jangala asked the joint commissioner of police (northern range) to probe the allegations by Harminder Singh.

Harminder said police were forcing him to file a complaint that Kanda’s brother and relatives were threatening him. He said he was forced to sign papers purportedly complaining about a threat to his life from Kanda.

Police had arrested Chanshivroop, assistant manager in Kanda’s MDLR Group, allegedly because he was the one who had gone to Dubai, where Geetika was working with Emirates Airlines. He allegedly told the airline’s officials that she had earlier secured a job with MDLR Group using forged documents.

The prosecution said he sent fake emails to Geetika, informing her about extradition proceedings against her in Dubai to put pressure on her to rejoin MDLR Group.

On December 5, the ACMM had given “conditional pardon” to Chanshivroop “on the condition that he shall make full and true disclosure of the whole circumstances within his knowledge related to the offence and relating to all the accused persons regarding commission of the offence.”

In her suicide note, Geetika had accused Kanda and other MDLR Group employees of  harassment.
