Carnatic vocalist Nithyashree's husband commits suicide

Noted carnatic musician Nithyashree's husband Mahadevan allegedly committed suicide by jumping into Adyar river here today.

45-year old Mahadevan jumped into the river from the Kotturpuram Bridge and his body had been found, police said.

Police said they were ascertaining the reason behind Mahadevan's extreme step.
Nithyashree is a very popular name in the classical music circles and the grand daughter of the late D K Pattammal, a renowned singer who was often hailed as one of the trinity of carnatic vocalists -- the other two being late M S Subbulakshmi and the late M L Vasanthakumari.
