Charge sheet filed against Saif Ali Khan, two others

Mumbai Police finally filed a charge sheet against actor and film producer Saif Ali Khan in an assault case that took place 10 months ago at a five-star hotel.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shishwe said that the Colaba Police Station where the case of assault was registered filed its charge sheet before a metropolitan magistrate court on Thursday.

Shishwe further informed that the charge-sheet has been filed with regard to complaint registered against Khan and two others by NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma on February 22. Thus, the charge-sheet apart from naming Khan as accused included his two friends — Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi.

The actor while enjoying a party along with his friends Kareena Kapoor (now wife) and others got into an altercation with South Africa-based businessman Sharma inside Wasabi Restaurant in Taj Mahal Hotel.

In his FIR, Sharma complained that when he objected to the alleged ruckus being created by Khan and his friends, the latter got angry and punched him on his face. The charge-sheet also states that Ladak who was also present allegedly assaulted Sharma’s father-in-law Raman Patel.

Next day, Khan and his two friends were detained and released on bail. The police in its charge-sheet has charged the trio for voluntarily causing grievous hurt (Section 325 of IPC.)
