Man gets RI for assaulting wife

 A man convicted of assaulting his wife has been sentenced to one year and six months rigorous imprisonment by a court here on Wednesday.

Krishna of T Narsipura is that person who has been awarded imprisonment by the judge of principal first CJ (junior division) and JMFC court H Shashidhar Shetty. He has been imposed a fine of Rs 1,000.

Krishna was allegedly forcing his wife Jayalakshmi to give her daughter’s hand in marriage to his nephew. When Jayalakshmi refused to heed his request, Krishna assaulted the former with a cudgel when she came to her make-shift tender coconut shop near MMC and RI mortuary here, inflicting severe injuries. Mandi police who had registered a case had filed a charge sheet, said a release from assistant public prosecutor K Nagaraj.
