Rail line expansion: Union Minister promises alternative shelter

Deliberations will also be held with railway officials to change the route

 
Muniyappa who visited Ambedkar Nagar in Chikkaballapur on Monday, held deliberations with dalit leaders of the area.

Accusing CMC officials of criminal negligence, Muniyappa said that houses had been constructed on the land belonging to Railway Department. He however, added that caution would be taken not to neglect houses, built by the dalits.

MLA K P Bache Gowda said that dalits would not be uprooted from the place. He said dalits would be vacated from their houses only after providing an alternative arrangement. Deliberations will also be held with railway officials to change the route, he added.

DSS district unit co-ordinator K P Rajakanth said that railway station should be constructed at Anakanuru village. Demanding the saving of dalit houses, he said that railway line should pass over Gopalakrishna tank.

New railway line

A new railway line will be laid between Chikkaballapur-Gauribidnur and Chikkaballapur Puttaparti and this will convert Chikkaballapur into a junction, said Muniyappa who sought the cooperation of people in laying the new lines.

Shidlaghatta MLA V Muniyappa, Railway Department’s Divisional Manager Akhil Agrawal, Chief Engineer Laldas and Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha were present.
