Chandru urges TN to withdraw notification

Kannada Development Authority (KDA) Chairperson Mukhyamantri Chandru has urged the Tamil Nadu government to withdraw its notification making Tamil the compulsory first language for Kannada students.

In a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, Chandru has urged her to restore the earlier system where students could opt for Kannada as first language.

Chandru pointed out that people residing in the districts of Tamil Nadu bordering Karnataka, particularly in Talavadiphirka region, were studying Kannada as their first language for many years now.
