Booklets on women's safety distributed

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashoka on Monday made one more effort to reassure women that they were safe in the City.

Accompanied by Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji, the minister travelled in a City bus to distribute booklets detailing measures taken by the State government to ensure safety of women. He said the initiative was aimed at sending a stern message to criminals against any acts outraging the modesty of women.

The minister said around 110 Hoysala and 230 Cheetah police patrol vehicles will function as an extended arms of women’s helpline - 1091. He said help would arrive for the victims in the shortest possible time once the control room receives the distress call.

The booklet enlists steps taken by the government to ensure safety of women in City and precautions they should take for their safety.

It also gives information on the methods to seek assistance in times of emergency.
