A 19-year-old girl was kidnapped and gang raped by five youth living in her neighbourhood in outer Delhi’s Alipur on January 2, police said on Tuesday.

Three accused have been arrested, while two are absconding.

Investigators said the victim was known to one of the accused. Police said she changed her statement about the incident a number of times. There were discrepancies in the victim’s statements, though medical reports confirm she was sexually assaulted, police said.

A police officer said the victim, a resident of Alipur, told them that on January 2 her landlord’s son Jitendra, who was in his car, called her outside her house.

“When she came near the car, Jitendra’s friends sitting in backseat came out suddenly and pulled her into the car. They took turns to rape her in the moving car and dumped her at an isolated place in Tikri Khurd near Singhu border after threatening her,” said a police officer, quoting the victim.

She was taken to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital, where medical reports confirmed rape.
A case under sections 365 (kidnapping), 376-G (gang rape) and 506 (threatening someone of dire consequence) of the Indian Penal Code was registered with Alipur police station against the five persons.

On the night of the arrest, the three accused identified as Yogendra, Sunil Kumar and Rahul Kumar, all in their twenties, and were sent to jail.

“Hunt in on to nab two other accused identified as Jitendra and Manoj. They fled from their homes and raids are on to nab them,” said the officer.
