Certificate course for qualified teachers
KLES’ Institute of Faculty Development (IFD), Belgaum, a training institute for teachers, has announced the opening of admissions for Finishing School for Teachers (FST- 2013) starting from 4th February 2013. IFD with an expert team of trainers who train teachers to become world class educators.

Finishing School for Teachers is a comprehensive certificate course of three months, which enables the smooth transition of a student-teacher to a full fledged teacher with advanced skills in teaching to face classroom with confidence.

The candidates are guaranteed with effective communication skills, personality development, training in creative teaching and skills in utilizing information technology in classroom management. Graduate skill enhancement programme

The NASSCOM Sector Skills Council (SSC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), for 3 years, with the talent development organization - NIIT, to offer enhanced training programs to students through its training campuses across the country. This alliance will offer first-of-its-kind training programs through two initiatives - FSIT (Foundation Skills in IT) - for engineering graduates, and Global Business Foundation Skills (GBFS) - for graduates of all streams.

While FSIT aims to develop foundation  skills in IT, GBFS has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the BPO/KPO/LPO industry. NIIT will leverage its on-campus delivery model by designing it to enhance the overall employability of graduates.

The training program has been designed by IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM and the achievement levels are certified through the NAC and NAC-Tech assessments. The collaboration between NASSCOM’s IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council (SSC) and NIIT aims to train over 1 lakh students over 3 years, starting with 30,000 students in the first year.

The programs – FSIT and GBFS, are of a duration of 120 hours each and cover topics like soft skills, professional skills, and project management. Most of the topics covered are applicable to multiple industries and although all students are eligible to take part in the program, it is best suited for engineering students studying in third and final year.

Training in digital printing
Karnataka State Printers Association is offering training in all divisions of printing: software (Desktop Publishing, Pagemaker, CorelDraw, Photoshop) lamination, binding, plate making, and digital printing. The training is for duration of 3 months.

Workshop for preschool teachers

The Teacher Foundation is conducting Touchstone Early Years, a professional development programme for pre-school teachers. The programme includes 11 interactive workshops spread over 8 days in a time frame of two to three months.
The workshops will be conducted on Fridays (afternoons) or Saturdays (full-day). The sessions will help teachers understand preschool toddlers better. It will also introduce them to teaching strategies and assessment in a preschool setting.

Double degree in Actuarial Studies

Macquarie University has announced admissions in Bachelor of Actuarial Studies with Bachelor of Economics. This double degree program provides students a deeper understanding of long-term financial management.

Accredited by the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, this program keeps your career options open with a major in both actuarial studies and economics. This 4 years full time/ equivalent part time program is suitable for students who are interested in long term financial management and economics.

Graduates can pursue careers in banking and finance, energy and environment, general and health insurance, wealth management, and other non-traditional areas such as IT, e-commerce, and climate change.

The eligibility for this course is 10+2, and scholarships are available for international students with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) equivalent of 92 on 100.

University of Exeter PhD Studentships

How to Apply: In order to apply you will need to complete an online web form where you must submit some personal details and upload the following documents -  CV, Covering letter, Research proposal, Transcript, IELTS/TOEFL certificate (where applicable) and  Details of 2 referees.

The covering letter should contain details of your reasons for applying and why you are the ideal person to undertake the doctoral research and to submit your thesis within three years.

Personal qualities should also include the ability to work independently and high degree of motivation necessary to complete a PhD in three years.

Vocational training in baking 

The Institue of Baking and Cake Art, Bangalore has announced a two-month baking course. The course focuses on practical and technical classifiction of baking and product making.

The  Government of India has recognised this training programme in skill development and the Ministry of Labour has authorised the Institue to conduct two months vocational training in baking.
