Last Updated 13 October 2009, 17:14 IST

Congress members staged a  protested entering the well of the house shouting slogans against President Shyamala Sudhakar, a Congress rebel who officially joined BJP. They accused her of showing disrespect to the proceedings of the house by amending a resolution unanimously adopted by the house in the last general body meet. They later walked out of the meeting.

In the last general body meeting convened under in-charge president Sathish Poojary, the house had unanimously decided to divide the Rs 4.25 lakh fund allocated under the “Halli Parimeethi Sethuve” scheme equally. However, the agenda of the present meet showed that Rs 60,000 of the allocations have been deviated for the concretisation works of the roads of the Kote Kaverijiddu areas coming under President Shyamala Sudhakar’s jurisdiction. Congress members Veronica Cornelio, Sathish Poojary and others raised the objections and demanded sticking to the earlier decision of the house, but the president did not agree and adjourned the house after the scorching discussions for lunch break prior to the usual schedule. Most of the Congress members continued with hunger protest demanding justice.

In the afternoon session, the president agreed that only the left over amount from the earlier two construction works will be utilised for the new proposal.
Expressing their disagreement over the new negotiation, Congress members staged a walk out, while one of them who stayed back raised the objection to continue with proceedings due to lack of required quorum, which is 31. The President later informed  media that the house was adjourned for the next meet on October 14.
The other issues discussed include irregularities in the distribution of the ration cards and the benefits assured, encroachments of the government land in the Balipadav area, suspension of the teachers of government schools in the district involved in other activities and so on. Vice President Soumya Nayak, CEO Ramanand Nayak, Standing Committee Chairman Katpadi Srinivas Poojary and others were present.
