Last Updated 13 October 2009, 17:17 IST

There are 11 wards in TP with 326 sodium lights and 77 tube lights installed here. Further high mast lights have been installed at Pravasi Mandir, bus stand and BEO’s office at a cost of Rs 5 lakh each. While solar lights have been installed at bus stand shelling out Rs 65,000, solar lights have been installed at Ambedkarnagar, Paurakarmika colony and Medarabeedi under 18 per cent funds.

Last year 80 new lights were installed and new lights of Rs 1.29 lakh were purchased. Likewise, Rs 2.50 lakh is being spent annually for the maintenance of lights. About Rs 85,000 is spent on electricity need for water supply every month and Rs 45,000 is being spent on street lighting. TP has plans of installing high mast lights at fish market and colony areas.

Since government has been paying electricity bills, TP has been relieved but if at all TP is made to pay this bill, then it will be added burden.
