Quality of higher education seminar

Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women organised a one-day seminar on ‘Quality of higher education through best practices’ on October 10, 2009 at  the college campus. The objective of the seminar was to provide a platform for participants to  discuss various initiatives such as promotion and sharing of best practices, evolving new methodologies for monitoring, sharing and implementation. Dr H A Ranganath, Director, National Assessment and Accreditation Council, urged institutions to adopt certain practices to enhance the quality in higher education.

Creative writing & speech contest

The Karnataka Association ICSE Interschool Declamation and Creative Writing Competition was organised at Ryan International School, Kundalahalli on October 7, 2009.
The Declamation contest showcased the skills of the students in public speaking. Students presented speeches by Abraham Lincoln, Jawaharlal Nehru, Vivekananda, Dr Abdul Kalam and Obama, for which they were given 45 minutes preparatory time.  The Declamation Contest (Juniors) for Class 9 and 10 saw the team from St Vincent’s Palloti School represented by Sri Lakshmi and Feby Jose Mathew coming in first , followed by St Thomas Public School ( Nitu Koshy and Saurav Panda) and Ryan International School, Yelahanka (Samarth and Rio Cooper) bagging the second and third prizes, respectively.

 
Programme for engineering talent

Bosch, a global supplier of technology and services  flagged off ‘On Track’, a programme for engineering students in India on October 9, 2009. The three-day event saw students examine Bosch’s technological innovations. Representatives at Bosch spoke about their personal contribution to creating these products. Visitors also received information on career prospects at Bosch.
About 850 students and 50 professors from 30 colleges and universities across India were invited to the seminar. ‘On Track’ is a collaborative effort of all Bosch companies in India.
