Zayed Khan in Blue.Bollywood’s new biker boy

But little did anyone know about Zayed’s passion for the one thing that all boys love – bikes! And now, the charming actor will be seen traversing across the Bahamas on his original love for the underwater action thriller Blue.

The film is slated to be the most expensive Indian film to date which promises viewers spectacular, breathtaking stunts by its lead actors. In the film, Zayed Khan plays an urban nomad with a singular driving passion — bikes.

And when the dashing young Khan learnt that most of his stunts would involve bikes, he was super excited. His craze for bikes got the better of him and the debonair completely let go of himself when it came to performing the stunts.

Says a source, “Zayed was like a kid with a new toy. He insisted on performing all his bike stunts on his own. He is quite a daredevil.” Insiders also claim that for a particular action sequence, the actor jumped down from the second floor of a building onto a taxi standing down, without a harness! And he did it not once but twice.

A wide range of biking leathers have been used for the bike chase sequences designed by Surily Goel. Director Anthony D’Souza also boasts of using the ultimate arm – a sophisticated equipment that has only been used in Hollywood films till now to capture high speed chase sequences. The equipment including biking leathers, protective gear and the ultimate arm was specifically ordered from the US in accordance with Zayed’s character for the film who will most likely set a trend with his professional and stylish biking gear.

‘I don’t think or behave like an Indian actor’

Dev Patel Slumdog Millionaire hero Dev Patel surfaces for the first time in months. He is in Los Angeles shooting for a Manoj Night Shyamalan film. After the Slumdog Millionaire fever died down, he has gone completely missing.

Why is that? The actors answers, “Hey, the fever is not gone and shall stay for life. I am shooting a film by M Night Shyamalan called The Last Airbender. I am playing the lead character of Zuko and it’s a film to watch out for. It will release in July 2010. As for being in India, I am a Britisher and my parents were in Kenya, so though my lineage is from India, I never stayed there. But my heart beats for India.”

Are there any chances of him working in a Bollywood film? “I don’t think or behave like an Indian actor, nor have that body language. I am not seeing a near chance of a Bollywood movie — but I would like to act with Aamir Khan.”

Penelope CruzThe real action girl

Oscar-winner Penelope Cruz was so adamant on getting her stunts right in her upcoming film Nine that even injuries did not deter the actress.

Cruz who stars alongside Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench and Kate Hudson in the film, was hoisted up in the air for one particularly trying scene.

And according to film’s director Rob Marshall, Cruz’s blood, sweat and tears went into nailing the take.

“She would be the last one on the sound stage working and I’d have to say, Penelope, it’s over! She also used to do all this work with ropes, swinging on them, and she had formed calluses and her hands were bleeding. We told her she would have to wear gloves but she was like, ‘No, no, I have to feel it’,” he said.

However, the 35-year-old actress was elated after sweating out and getting bloodied. “We finished it and she was in tears, saying, ‘I loved every second. I want to install ropes in my bedroom so I don’t have to let go of it’,” he added.
