National meet on yoga from today

Mangalore University will organise a national conference on Yoga therapy at Mangalagangothri on January 18 and 19.

Addressing press persons on Wednesday, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof T C Shivashankaramurthy said that the conference is first of its kind, which intends to spread the value based knowledge of yogic science, to propagate the importance of yoga in life.

The conference is a platform of interaction yoga therapists and also intends to create awareness about yoga therapy.

There will be special invited talks by the experts in the field like Dr Prakash Malshe, Vankata Reddy, Dr B N Gangadhar, Dr Ganesh Shankar and Dr N B Shukla.

The seminar will be inaugurated by Higher Education Minister C T Ravi at 9.30 am on Friday. AYUSH Director G N Sreekanthaiah will be the guest of honour.

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof T C Shivashankaramurthy will preside over the function. Former chairman of Human Consciousness and Yogic Sciences Dr K Krishna Bhat will deliver the keynote address.

The valedictory of the conference will be held at 3.30 pm on January 19. Senior central government secretary V V Bhat and District AYUSH officer Dr Sadashivananda will be the chief guests during the function. Mangalore University Registrar Dr P S Yadapadithaya will preside over the function.
