Last Updated 14 October 2009, 17:25 IST

This was approved during a board meeting of the KSTDC held on Wednesday. These measures have been taken to make the luxury train affordable for Indians.

The cost per ticket works out roughly to Rs 1.2 lakh for a week-long tour around Karnataka. With the rates slashed to Rs 11,800 per day, the cost per ticket now works out to Rs 82,600 per trip. This would be in the case of those opting for a room on a twin-sharing basis. “If three people are willing to share a room, the cost per ticket would further reduce to Rs 9,600 per day and would amount to just Rs 67,200 per ticket,” the official added.
