DSS criticises ostracism

Explaining the reason for the ostracism, the protesters said that on September 27 dalits of the Halekuppe, unveiled a statue of Dr B R Ambedker in their village. Though, they had informed the villagers of this, the people belonging to upper caste took umbrage and ostracised the dalits, they have stated in the memorandum.

Demanding police security to Ambedkar statue and dalits in the village, they urged the government to provide relief to dalits, in order to lead dignified life. A park should be created around the Ambedkar statue either by gram panchayat or government, they added.
