When it comes to design, Coupon has a very simple philosophy — it must be in vogue and more importantly, it must be affordable.

The brand stocks garments which are hot, but ensure that they are priced moderately. The collections are diverse, ranging from brightly-coloured ethnic creations to stylish casual wear and sleek formal silhouettes.

Coupon focusses on two very different segments of business — brands at discount, and what they call fashion at value price. While the former line includes a variety of other well-known brands, which are sold at dramatically reduced prices, the latter incorporates a range of collections created by Coupon itself.

These collections span different fashions — casual wear, formal wear and ethnic attire included — and while they remain moderately priced, the brand makes a point to never compromise on fashion. Rather, the collections incorporate styles that are contemporary and in vogue — from sleek kurtis and leggings to faded denim shirts and even fitted cargoes.

Saisangeetha, the senior marketing manager of the brand, explains, “Through these brands, we focus on filling whatever product gaps might exist in the market, in terms of styling and technique. Our own brands include ‘Locomotive’ — which is a high-fashion label aimed at the youth — as well as ‘Unit 27’, which is a more universal brand.

We also have ‘Highlander’, which includes men’s casual wear, like chinos, shirts and tee shirts.”

When it comes to formal wear, Coupon has three separate lines — ‘Mark Taylor’, ‘Black Coffee’ and ‘Not Sure’. “While ‘Mark Taylor includes everyday formals, ‘Black Coffee’ focusses on the more premium formals. If you compare the cotton shirts that are part of this collection to others available in the market, you’ll find that they’re of the same quality — but priced much lower,” adds Saisangeetha. ‘Not Sure’, on the other hand, has formal shirts which are styled in a more casual manner, for customers who want to mix and match.

In fact, this is the intent of Coupon — to ensure that customers have access to high-fashion attire at much lower prices. The same philosophy extends to their other brands, which include ‘Talk of the Town’, a line of luxury lounge wear; ‘Loco Kids’, for children between the ages of three and 12; ‘Folklore’, which comprises of detailed ethnic wear; Vishudh, which has everyday casual ethnic wear and ‘Mumbai Slang’, which offers chic outfits perfect for college or office wear.
