Plaint against Krishna Byregowda, wife

A private complaint was filed against Byatrayanapura MLA Krishna Byregowda and his wife Meenakshi Sheshadri, on Wednesday, in the Lokayukta Court.

The complainant, N L Srinivas Prasad, has alleged that Byregowda, in order to facilitate the sanctioning of a building plan for Beary’s Twin Towers, received an apartment in the skyscraper. The MLA’s wife is the co-owner of the property.

The case pertains to Beary Towers allegedly encroaching upon 43,000 sqft of land which was earmarked for the construction of a road. According to the complainant, the developer encroached upon the 43,000 sq ft of land and received a higher floor-area ratio (FAR).

In total, the developer accrued 1.42 lakh sq ft of space and developed 23 floors. “In reality, the FAR should have been restricted to 16 floors. The Beary Towers now has 23 floors, an illegal addition of seven floors,” claimed the complainant’s lawyer.

It was claimed that the case was discussed in the High Court after a PIL was filed by a private person.

“The case was disposed following the BBMP conducting a spot inspection at the behest of the HC and identifying building plan violations,” claimed the lawyer for the complainant. The complaint has also named former Commissioner of BDA Jaikar Jerome, former BDA Engineer Member C R Prasad and former BDA Town Planning Member Mukunda.
