CM's Deepavali will be in Raichur

He will monitor relief operations and issuance of cheques to victims


He will leave Bangalore for Raichur on Friday evening and join the flood victims for the celebrations in one of relief camps in Raichur.
In a press conference, in Bangalore, the CM said he would monitor the relief operations and issuance of relief cheques to the flood victims personally for the day in Raichur. Raichur is one of the worst flood-hit districts. As many as 33 people died in the district.

Rs 10 crore cheque
Yeddyurappa said the government had already distributed cheques amounting to Rs 300 crore as relief to victims and Rs 1,000 crore had been released to districts for relief operations. He said the cheque of Rs 10 crore, promised earlier for Mantralaya’s Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, would be handed-over on Friday.
He said the government would construct 2 lakh houses for residents of those villages, identified for shifting to safer places. Each house would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1 lakh on a plot of 30x50 sq ft area. The construction work would begin in a one-and-half-a-month’s time and would be completed in next six to nine months period.

Delegation
The CM said the state government would prepare the detail memorandum on the loss caused by floods by October 18 and a delegation will submit the memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi on October 20.
Leaders of opposition parties, senior ministers of the state cabinet and union ministers from Karnataka would be in the delegation. Copies of the memorandum would be provided for the central teams visiting the state from October 21 to assess the loss.
The State Cabinet, in its next meeting, would take a decision to hold the legislature session for fifteen days from November first week. The date would finalised in the Cabinet meeting. The opposition parties could raise issues concerned to relief operations in the session, he said.
