Two steal Rs 11 lakh from businessman, arrested in central Delhi

A 27-year-old man, who wanted to start his own business, and his associate were arrested for stealing at least Rs 11 lakh from a businessman in central Delhi.

Vijay Kumar along with his associate Jasbir Singh stole Rs 11 lakh from a businessman, where he was working for at least a decade.

Both were arrested, said additional commissioner of police (central) Devesh Chandra Shrivastava.

Accused goes missing

On January 19, police said Arsh Kumar, who operates a mobile phone accessory business at Karol Bagh, approached them with a complaint that Vijay, who had been deputed for collection and delivery of payment to his clients, was missing.

Kumar is his complaint said he had given Rs 11.51 lakh to Vijay for delivery to a client at Ghaffar Market, in addition to a cheque of Rs 2 lakh, which was to be delivered at north Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar on January 18.

The next day, however, Kumar came to know that neither had been delivered to the parties concerned by Vijay, whom he tried to contact but in vain.

“During investigation, technical surveillance was mounted and sources were deployed to ascertain the whereabouts of Vijay.

Soon, we were able to ascertain that he was moving in and around Mathura and Aligarh,” said Shrivastava.

A police team was immediately dispatched to the area and raids were conducted in different areas.

Held from bus stop

Vijay was nabbed from Aligarh bus stop and Rs 5 lakh recovered from him.

He told police that he had given the remaining cash and the cheque to his friend Jasbir, who was arrested later and Rs 6 lakh cash and the cheque were recovered.
