In a fit of rage, a man allegedly bit off his 5-month-old daughter’s nose, lip and cheek in Bikaner district.

The incident took place on Thursday.

Bahadur Singh was drunk when he reached his house at Siyana village at night and had a fight with wife Santosh over some domestic issue, said SHO of Kolayat police station.
During the quarrel, he beat up his 3-year-old daughter Bhanwari and then bit his younger daughter Radha’s upper lip, nose and cheek in a fit of anger.

Hearing screams, neighbours came to the rescue of the baby and she was taken to PBN hospital in Bikaner. The doctors there referred her to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) government hospital in Jaipur where medical experts suggested plastic surgery for the baby’s face, the police official said. However, doctors at the SMS hospital said the child was sent back to PBM hospital in Bikaneer on Sunday on her mother’s wish.

Police have arrested Singh and has been remanded to judicial custody.

A case has been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt through dangerous weapons or means) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of IPC.
Meanwhile, the state medical and health department has intervened and sought details of the incident from the district collector. The child would be provided free treatment facilities by the government, according to sources.
