TRS chief ridicules Manmohan's wisdom

Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K Chandrasekhar Rao’s remark that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has less wisdom than  a ‘chaprasi’ of  Parliament has united the vertically split Congress party in the troubled Andhra Pradesh.

Rao had made these comments at the Samaradeeksha dharna organized by T-JAC on Monday.

Strongly reacting to Rao’s comments, Chief Minister N Kirankuamr Reddy, addressing a press conference at his camp office on Tuesday evening, has asked KCR to mind his language.

“He should realize that he is only a leader from a sub-regional party which has got only 10 seats in the 2009 elections. Meanwhile, Sangareddy MLA Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy has filed a compliant against Rao with the Gandhinagar police station for whipping regional sentiments,” he said.

The Samaikhyaandhra JAC in Vijayawada and Guntur have already lodged complaints with local police stations against Rao and TJAC convener Kodandaram.

Another Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar raked up a storm by likening fellow MP from coastal Andhra, Undavalli Arun Kumar, to a prostitute from Peddapuram, a town in coastal Andhra.

Denouncing Arun Kumar for organising the “Jai Andhra Pradesh” conference, Prabhakar said he was “constrained” to compare Kumar with a prostitute.

Prabhakar drew flak from several women organisations in Peddapuram.

Since Peddapuram has a history of women being forced into prostitution by landlords in the pre-independence days, Prabhakar’s remarks attracted sharp criticism from all sections of the society.

The Samaikyandhra women’s JAC on Tuesday filed a case against Prabhakar with the town police station of Visakhapatnam.

Retaliating to Prabhakar’s remarks, Peddapuram MLA Gandhi Mohan said Prabhakar himself was a “political prostitute.”

He threatened to file a case against the MP for degrading women.
