Prasanna trying to create confusion: Dhananjay Kumar

KJP general secretary Dhananjay Kumar has alleged that KJP founder Prasanna Kumar was trying to create confusion at the behest of JD(S) president H D Kumaraswamy.

Dhananjay Kumar said it was at the behest of Kumaraswamy that Prasanna Kumar had written to the Election Commission, stating that former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa was no longer the president of the KJP. The letter was retrieved from Kumaraswamy’s residence and distributed to the media, he said.

Dhananjay Kumar was reacting to Prasanna Kumar’s allegations that he was facing death threats from Yeddyurappa’s men. Prasanna had told news channels that Yeddyurappa’s son B Y Vijayendra and Dhananjay Kumar had issued death threats to him, owing to which, he had fled the State.

Prasanna Kumar had alleged: “Dhananjay Kumar told me that he had connections in the underworld and that he would send rowdies after me to get me killed, while Vijayendra told me that I will not be spared for having spoken against his father. They have threatened me that they will kill me in front of my house. That is why I have gone into hiding.”

He also said that he had decided to appeal to the Governor and the police to provide him security. A press conference convened by Prasanna Kumar in Bangalore on Thursday, where he was supposed to reveal all, was cancelled last minute. Prabhakara Gathri, claiming to be the KJP youth wing general secretary, said Prasanna was apprehensive to enter Bangalore as he feared he would be attacked.

Reacting to his allegations, Yeddyurappa said that Kumar was making baseless allegations and released documents to prove that the latter had handed over the charge as KJP president to Dhananjay Kumar on November 9, last year.

Bellary cops look for KJP founder

A team of the Bellary police on Thursday left for Bangalore in search of Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) founder Prasanna Kumar in connection with a cheque bounce case, reports DHNS from Bellary.

Police said, a case had been filed at the Paramadevana Halli police station in Bellary around six months ago, by Pratap Reddy. Prasanna Kumar had allegedly collected money from the people, including Reddy, for inducting them into his newly registered political party, the KJP. However later, Prasanna Kumar handed over the party’s reins to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. Consequently, Reddy and others sought the return of their money from Prasanna Kumar. Prasanna Kumar, who agreed to return the money, issued a cheque to Reddy.

However, as the cheque reportedly bounced, Reddy filed a case at the Paramadevana Halli police station. When the hearing of the case came up at a Bellary court a few days ago, the court issued an arrest warrant against Prasanna Kumar and asked the police to produce him before the court. Consequently, Brucepet Police Station Inspector Boopaiah constituted a police team, and sent it to Bangalore to search for Prasanna Kumar and bring him to Bellary, to be produced before the court.
