Protest against privatisation of Wenlock Hospital

Forwarding a memorandum to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa through DC Hemalatha the Committee accused that the non BPL card holders, even though their income is below the poverty line, has to pay a hefty sum for the health services provided in Wenlock Hospital. The privatisation of the blood bank division and forensic division of the hospital is proving to be a costly affair to poor patients, the memorandum read.

The Committee urged the government to immediately call off the privatisation measures to be introduced in the hospital besides taking actions in the direction of reducing the fees charged for  various treatments offered at the hospital.

DYFI members Suresh Kalgar, Kaviraj S, Subramanya Padukone, Rajesh Voderhobli, SFI members Harsha, Veena, Madhavi and others were present.
