Kapur in tied 32nd spot on day one

A 10th tee starter, Jeev, who stayed off course last week after failing to make the Greg Norman-led International team in the President’s Cup, played out a flawless back-nine, which comprised birdies on the 13th and 16th holes.

Two-under at the turn, Jeev stumbled to back-to-back bogeys on the first and second hole to come back to par. The Chandigarh-pro, however, got his act together soon enough and picked up successive birdies on the third and fourth to be two-under again.

He closed the day by picking up another set of back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes. Meanwhile, Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra staged a late recovery to card a two-under 69 and occupy the tied 52nd spot. At the top, it was a three-way tie for the lead after Americans Tim Prince Jr, Troy Matteson and Spencer Levin turned in identical 62s.

Steady Shiv
