Iskcon clarifies
The Iskcon, which runs Akshaya Patra Foundation to provide mid-day meal in government schools, has strongly refuted the allegations. It stated in a press note that the organisation was facing shortage of storage space due to which it took a godown at Nagarbavi area on rent.

The rent arrangement was made on September 20 this year. On October 6, Iskcon submitted a letter to the chief executive officer, Zilla Parishat, Bangalore seeking permission to store the rice in the rented premises. The matter has been brought to the notice of joint director of mid-day meal scheme and shifting rice to the new godown commenced only later.

However,it did not say whether it got permission from the government to ‘stock’ rice in its new godown.
