Teerthahalli (Shimoga dist), dhns: Five members of a family including two children were killed after the multi utility vehicle (MUV) in which they were travelling rammed into a tree at Shiranalli near Hanagerekatte in Teerthahalli taluk Friday evening. Seven people were injured.
Police said Thimma Reddy, 58 and Nagamma, 45, died on spot while Reddy’s wife Kamalamma, 55, Panchami, 8, succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Kannangi. Manoj, 10, died in a government hospital at Teerthahalli.
The accident occurred when they were heading towards home after performing puja at a religious centre. The injured and are undergoing treatment at KMC in Manipal and McGann Hospital in Shimoga.
