Beed: New-born girl strangled, mother arrested

A three-day-old baby girl was allegedly strangled by her mother with the help of her lover in Dharur tehsil of Beed district, Maharashtra.

Ashabai Bansode (24) and her friend/lover Rajaram Dhotre (45) have been arrested by the police.

According to the police, Ashabai, a divorcee, had a relationship with Dhotre. She gave birth to a baby girl on February 4 at Swami Ramanand Teerth Hospital at Ambejogai.

Two days later, she killed the child at Dharur with Dhotre's help and buried her, police said.
On receiving a tip-off, a team led by Police Inspector Angad Sudke discovered the body and arrested Ashabai and Rajaram yesterday. The local court has remanded them in police custody till February 13.
