Last Updated 10 February 2013, 17:59 IST

The government-owned Hatti Gold Mines on February 6 created a record by lifting 2,378 tonnes of gold ore from its mines.

In-charge General Manager (Co-ordination) of the Hatti Gold Mines, Basavaraj Doddamani disclosed this at a press conference here.
He said the company had broken its previous record of 2009, when it had lifted 2,302 tonnes of gold ore on July 27.

The general manager informed that the new circular shaft which was being constructed on the premises of the mines was beneficial to the company.
Under the current system, only 30 persons could be shifted to the mines at a time, which consumed a lot of time.

With the construction of the circular shaft as many as 100 workers could be shifted swiftly at once, thereby saving a lot of time, he said.
