CRPF jawans held for misbehaving with women

The incident occurred at a place under Lahunipada police station limits in the tribal-dominated Sundergarh district. All of them have been forwarded to judicial custody after a local court rejected their bail plea on Saturday. They have also been placed under suspension.

Police sources said the three jawans who were travelling from the steel township of Rourkela to K Balanga allegedly started misbehaving with the two tribal women inside the passenger bus. When other co-passengers and the bus employees raised their objections, they were reportedly manhandled .

“We arrested them after the women and their relatives filed a complaint and identified the jawans during a test identification parade,” investigating officer M M Tripathy said.
