Barely had the dust settled on the controversy involving a top cop, who had touched the feet of a senior SP leader at a function some days ago, another senior officer morphed into a ‘neta’ while speaking at a reception for a newly appointed UP minister, much to the shock of other officers.

The incident happened at a function in Amethi organised to welcome newly appointed minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati on Monday.

Amethi additional district magistrate was also present at the function.
The senior officer rushed to welcome the minister, who also hails from Amethi, and garlanded him in full public view.

When the officer got an opportunity to speak, he used all kinds of metaphors in heaping praise on the minister. “Prajapati has been made a minister to propagate socialistic ideas in Amethi, which is already famous in the world,” said the officer.

Amethi is the Lok Sabha constituency of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
The officer garlanded the minister and congratulated him as well.

“The ADM should not have spoken like a politician,” said another senior officer who was present there.

The incident comes barely days after a senior UP cop touched the feet of SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav at a public function in Auraiya. Though the police officer denied having touched the SP leader’s feet, he was caught on camera doing so.

SP leader Ram Asrey Kushwaha said there was nothing wrong if an officer touched the feet of a politician. “It is Indian culture. Sometimes we also have personal relationships,” said Kushwaha.

Ram Gopal Yadav had also said officers should work like SP workers and implement policies of the government.
