Sadananda Gowda, wife granted bail on pvt complaint

Former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and his wife Datty were today granted bail in connection with a private complaint filed against them, alleging they had obtained sites through illegal allotment.

Lokayukta Court judge N K Sudhindra Rao granted bail to both of them on furnishing a personal bond of Rs two lakh each and a surety.

He also directed the two of them, who were present in court, not to leave the country without its prior permission and adjourned the matter to March 26.

The third accused in the case, Anil is already on bail.

On January 2,the Supreme Court had ordered maintaining status quo on buildings constructed on sites allotted by Bangalore Development Authority to Gowda and Food and Supplies Minister D N Jeevaraj here while staying the Oct 17 Karnataka High Court order to initiate action against the duo in three months.

A woman journalist Nagalakshmi Bai had filed the petition alleging irregularities in allotment of sites and violation of rules in construction of buildings.
