Teenager held for rape, murder of child

The Madivala police arrested a 19-year-old in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a four-and-half-year-old girl recently. Mahesh of T Narasipura is the arrested.

He had come to the City two years ago and was staying at a rented house at Rotary Nagar near Kodi Chikkanahalli. He was working at a garment factory close to Rotary Nagar.

He allegedly lured the victim with a chocolate and tried to rape her. When the child cried for help, Mahesh strangulated her. Later, he dumped the body near an under-construction building, said the police.

Local residents who noticed the body informed the police. The police quizzed more than 200 people and collected details of those having criminal background leading to the arrest, DCP (North East) Dr P S Harsha said.

The police took 80 persons into custody including a few factory workers. The body language of three persons including that of Mahesh was found suspicious. They were taken to Madivala, Koramangala and Parappana Agrahara police stations separately for interrogation and Mahesh admitted to committing the crime, he added.

The team of police officers comprising Madivala Sub-Division ACP H Subbanna, inspectors Prashanth Babu, R Srinivas Reddy, M M Prashanth, Lakshmi Narayan and staff arrested Mahesh, he added.
