Woman kills son, ends life

A woman allegedly hanged her son to death before committing suicide by hanging at her house in Mico Layout police limits on Friday.

The dead are Anitha, wife of Jagadish, a resident of Narayanappa Garden and garment factory worker, and their four-year-old son Ganesh.

Police said the couple were not on good terms over the last few months.
On Friday, Anitha locked the door of the house from inside after Jagadish left for the factory, hanged her son Ganesh and hanged herself to death, the police added.

As there was no response when she was contacted over the phone, one of her relatives came to her house and knocked the door. She grew suspicious when Anitha did not respond and broke open the door with the help of the neighbours. They found the bodies of the two hanging, the police said.

Robbed of valuables

Men posing as cops duped three women of their gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees at Kalasipalya, Rajarajeshwarinagar and Tilaknagar police station limits Friday morning.

The cheats introduced themselves as policemen to Jagadamba, a teacher and a resident of Rajarajeshwarinagar Layout, who was on her way to school at Raghuvanahalli. They told her that a murder had been committed in a nearby lane and therefore she must be careful with her jewellery.

The men wrapped her jewellery in a piece of cloth and further sealed it in a plastic cover and handed it back to her.

It was only when Jagadamba reached school and checked the plastic bag that she realised that the duo had actually swapped the bag containing 80 gram of gold jewellery with a empty packet. She registered a complaint at Rajarajeshwarinagar police station.

Gayathri Srinivas, a resident of Vishveshwarapura, became a victim of attention diversion by miscreants when she was returning home from her morning walk at Lalbagh.

Individuals identifying themselves as policemen robbed her of 130 gram of gold jewellery on RV Road, close to the Kempegowda statue. Kalasipalya police have registered a case.

In the third incident at Jayanagar 12th main road, Chukkibai was robbed of 80 gram of gold jewellery when unidentified suspects posing as policemen tricked and looted her. The police suspect that since the incident took place the same day and at nearby locations, the same culprits may be involved.
