Unconscious girl recovers slowly

Doctors at Victoria Hospital have said that after two weeks of unconsciousness, the girl admitted to the hospital has started showing signs of recovery.

Dr Shankarappa, medical superintendent of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana building on the premises of the hospital said the girl is batting her eyelids, which is a positive sign.

“She is still on ventilator, and will remain so until she gains complete consciousness, which should happen in about a week’s time,” he added.

The Forensic Science Laboratory report, to ascertain if the girl was sexually assaulted, are expected on Monday. The team of doctors, who conducted medical examination on the girl, initially found abrasions on the body, but were unable to establish sexual assault on the victim, said Dr Shankarappa. The girl is in her early 20s and was brought to the hospital from Tavarekere Main Road in an unconscious state by the police.
