JOIN USKarnataka Chalanachitra Academy recently organised, Belli Hejje at Badami House. Held on the second Saturday of every month, this edition of Belli Hejje featured the works of Kannada film director Bhargava.
There was also a discussion on the director and his life.
A collection of Bhargava’s pictures were on display. Among them were those of his childhood days, his youth and his wedding. That Bhargava is close to the Rajkumar family was evident from the rare pictures that he had clicked with the late Dr Rajkumar. The two were close and Bhargava shares very fond memories of the time spent with Dr Rajkumar.
Recollecting some of the best moments of his career, Bhargava says, “Rajkumar respected women a lot and his family as a whole has given me a lot of strength and support. He was the pillar of my career.”

Chiranjeevi. And then there are shots of Bhargava’s life on the sets.
His personal photos of his family also finds space in the huge collection.He also doesn’t miss a chance to recall the moments he shared with Vishnuvardhan, “I owe a lot to Rajkumar and Vishnuvardhan. I miss the two of them but their memories live on,” he adds. Among those who visited the exhibition and later took part in the open discussion were Bhargava’s family and friends.
Deshpande, an engineer, who came for the event, was impressed with the body of work. “I love old black and white pictures and Bhargava’s pictures give one an idea of what his life and career is like. He has shared spaces with such well-known personalities but he’s such a humble man,” he says.
Bhagavan and Sulochana, Bhargava’s neighbours, were also there to encourage him and lend him their support. “We live close to his place. But we never knew that he is such a talented man until we came here and saw the pictures,” says Bhagavan.
