7 killed in target killings in Karachi

At least seven people were killed today in a continued spree of target killings in the Pakistani port city of Karachi.

Target killings continued unabated with shootings reported from Patel Para, Airport, Korangi,
Nazimabad, Orangi and Bhais colony.

Seven people were killed in differen parts of the city in target killings, police said.

Those killed included the Managing Director of Pakistan Machine Tool Factory. Two colleagues of the Managing Director were also injured as they were attacked by unknown assailants while returning from office in their car in Bhais colony, Landhi.

Throughout the day incidents of violence and rioting were reported from different parts of the city as Shia organisations staged sit-ins to protest the bomb blast in Quetta that killed nearly 90 people.

Vehicles were also torched in some areas such as Nazimabad and Patel Para.

Incidents of miscreants pelting passing vehicles were reported from many areas as most markets remained closed and commuters faced difficulties due to blockades and stone pelting.
