'Prove Nice toll is legal, win Rs 1 crore prize'

Here is a Rs one-crore challenge that has been thrown to all members of the public by social activist T J Abraham.

“If anyone can come forward and show me that all the toll collected by Nice (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise) on Peripheral road (between March 29, 2010 to the present date) is legal, that person will get a reward of Rs 1 crore from me”, said Abraham, while addressing the media in the City on Thursday.

Nice has announced the closure of the Peripheral road for a month from February 16, for the purpose of concretising the road. The social activist asked, “Why did Nice start collecting toll tax on the road that had only been asphalted and whose construction has not been fully completed?” 

With Supreme Court advocate M K Dhananjay, who is helping the effort, the social activist has estimated that an amount to the tune of Rs 130 crore to Rs 160 crore has been collected till date.

Abraham and others will burn copies of the ‘Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988,’ if no one comes forward to take up his challenge within 30 days.
