Poor to get better health facilities at new hospital

Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, once commissioned will provide healthcare to a large section of people including the poor, expecting mothers and senior citizens, said chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

Inaugurating outpatient department (OPD) service at the under-construction 200-bed Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital (DCBH) in Ashok Vihar on Friday she said the hospital will be developed as a mulch-disciplinary hospital complete with various medical, nursing, para-medical and other ancillary services.

“DCBH will provide secondary-level healthcare services to about five lakh people, mostly in JJ clusters, slums or under-developed localities around Ashok Vihar and G T Road,” said Dikshit.

The hospital will have 24X7 free emergency cares with free service and medicines, she said. Delhi health minister Dr A K Walia said the hospital will provide emergency and OT facilities in the clinical disciplines of medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, eye and ENT besides supportive specialties like anaesthesiology, laboratory and radiology.

“At present, the OPD services for all disciplines is opened for the public. Later, IPD and emergency care facilities will also be provided by July 2013,” said Walia.

Union minister of communications and information technology Kapil Sibal also spoke on the occasion.

Residents of Ashok Vihar, Bharat Nagar, Wazirpur Industrial area and JJ Cluster, Nimri Colony, Gulabi Bagh, and Shakti Nagar will benefit from the new facility.
